Learning English for Academic Purpose (LEAP with Violet)

The LEAP Programme aims to:

Impress upon students the benchmark for excellence in academic English;

Instil confidence in their own abilities with Violet Education’s didactic approach, to achieve Distinction in academic English, and

Motivate them to learn the English language via a wide range of activities using experiential integrated learning approaches.

Overview

Violet Education's English for Academic Purpose (EAP) programme is designed to meet, and in some lessons, exceed the academic standards of Singapore’s Cambridge examination requirements.

The programme is intense and rigorous but fun. Activities range from highly interactive class lessons to opportunities for public speaking.

Students will also have opportunities to engage sharp young minds from Singapore top universities during their visits to cultural places of interest. We hope the engagement process will motivate students to master English at a faster pace after the EAP.

Programme Key Features

Critical thinking as a pre-condition for Distinction

The premise is that in order to write and speak well, one must think well. Hence, critical thinking skills training is integral to all Violet Education language programmes.

Language learning through cultural immersion

This can be a highly motivating experience for the students. From train rides to food centres, students will observe how the English language has fostered national unity among a racially diverse group of people. Despite the widespread use of English, Singapore has retained its cultural and social roots.

Sustaining the learning process

The EAP is merely a catalyst and a transformative experience for students to speed up their pace in learning and mastering academic English.
